Captain's Update

GENERAL

The Match Committee are noticing normality in numbers returning for our members accessing the course, both in competitions and casually. However, these numbers are, as previously mentioned in my updates being distributed across the border on available days. With the warmer weather ahead we believe this trend will continue, so I ask playing members to be mindful when booking as to the commitment in playing and not just blocking that spot on the time sheet.

STROKE RESULTS ON MEDAL DAYS

Under the World Handicapping System which was adopted by the Club:

'All Players Scores Are Relative to Par '

Example: Ladies par for the course is 72, Men's par is 70.

Michelle has scored 74 which is 2 over (par 72), Fred has scored 73 which is 3 over (par 70).

Michelle wins, 2 over with the better score compared to Fred's 3.  The management software used by the club automatically determines these positions.

In our Medal competitions, it is the players gross score to their par that is used to determine results.

BOUNDARIES

I would like to emphasize the need for all players on the course, particularly playing the 1st , 2nd & 3rd tee shots to be aware of the course's boundaries.

Should you accidently hit a ball beyond our boundary fences please inform the office ASAP; this also applies to the driving range. This a requirement for our insurance cover should an issue occur as a result.

SPONSORSHIP

I would like all members, singularly or in groups to consider sponsoring a competition.  This can be both beneficial to yourself in participation as well as to the wider club.

COURSE CARE

There has been much talk not only in committee rooms but around the playing membership about the condition and state of our course care particularly over the weekend. The Match Committee will endeavour to actively monitor members behaviour on the course, both in competition and casually. This may include observations by match committee members on the course, on specific locations and on specific days.

Should you transgress, ie: not rake bunkers, repair pitch markers, or knock in your divots you will be advised verbally on the matter.

If the matter continues with evidence of sight, the member will be warned by a written letter.

Failure to continue to comply may be an attendance to the disciplinary committee for explanation of behaviour.

So please be vigilant and respectful to other members.
