Thank you to all members that have responded to our survey poll prior to the publishing of invoices next week. We have received an overwhelming response of 81% from the golfing membership. We are pleased to announce that we will now have more full members in the new financial year compared to current and this is a pleasing financial result for our bottom line. Next financial year will be an interesting year for us as we navigate inflation pressures on our expenses but we are confident of achieving another great success for our Club and its members. The Board of Management recently approved two new policies and this is now available for our members viewing:
Motorised cart policy We have amended guidelines on driving and following the rules on the golf course (with a new signed agreement required for cart users) and we are now permitting members to bring their own golf carts but with a fee. There is a different fee for 1 seater and 2 seater carts. The reason? You may have a friend on the other seat in a two seater. This rule is in place to ensure: - - We have a register of members that bring their own golf carts on a regular basis and our pro shop staff will have a copy of this register.
- Your Club is minimally covered for the loss of business from the carts hire and/or bringing a friend on the other seat in the cart
- The cost of damage from carts wear and tear on the golf course are covered from those that hired the golf cart from the Club, those who store their golf carts at the Club and those who privately bring their carts to the course. (previously those that brought their own golf carts did not have to pay a fee).
Golf carts are part of any Club's business. Specifically to us, it brings in a revenue of $150k and from storage of carts, it is a revenue of $10k. The business of golf carts and the realities of it extends to damage caused on the golf course, such as bigger wear and tear on common path areas, costs of returfing and as you will see from our spending in course levy next year, a new path to be created on the 6th green which is closely associated with cart and path common traffic flow areas. While it is great that we receive great revenue from the business of carts hire, the expenses cover more than just monthly leases and repair services. We do not allow non-members to bring their golf carts to the golf course and this is mainly due to insurance cover and issues that may arise. The issue of motorised carts and storage of carts is a common topic of discussion between GMs in Clubs and I expect another update from our insurance company shortly. I will advise members affected accordingly. Revised extreme weather policy (lightning) We have revised the policy for lightning cover in our extreme weather policy and will certainly work on the processes around it for our staff and members safety. Lightning alerts are now visible to our staff within the 20km radius and golfers must leave the golf course when you hear the siren (in place when lightning is detected and moving within the 20 km radius).
