Special Board Update - Land

Dear Club Members,

I am pleased to announce a significant milestone in the development and enhancement of our club. This week we have received official approval from the local city authorities to proceed with acquiring or swapping the crown reserve land (driving range and adjacent land). This landmark decision paves the way for the much-anticipated redevelopment of our facilities, setting the stage for an even brighter future for our golf club.

The club continues to enhance its membership offering, and also reputation as a premier golf course in Western Australia. However, the limitations of our existing facilities have become increasingly evident. With this in mind, we embarked on a journey to explore opportunities for expansion and improvement.

After months of dedicated efforts, and meetings with council and councillors, we are delighted to inform you that the local city authorities have given us the green light to proceed with the acquisition or swap of crown reserve land adjacent to our golf club. This land acquisition is a significant step forward, providing us with the necessary space to enhance and upgrade our facilities.

While this approval is a significant achievement, there is still much work to be done. Your club board and management team will be working diligently to finalise the details of the land acquisition and secure necessary building approvals prior to the construction process.

I have also welcomed Kevin Guppy to the committee to assist at this stage of the planning and approval process. Welcome Kevin. We are committed to keeping you informed throughout this exciting journey and will provide regular updates on our progress.

Update from GGC Chair of the Grants and Government Sub-Committee

With the excellent news from Rob Olde that the land requirements are progressing quickly to a resolution in the club's favour, we must now start looking at grants and government funding. This will mean identifying grants suitable to our position as a sporting club with freehold/crown land, and importantly the timeline for grant applications and requirements.

As a starting point, we will start by talking to clubs successful in attaining grants. This will be a challenging task, but one that I am excited to begin and I would welcome assistance from members who may have been involved in a similar project. Please contact me by email.
