I am pleased to provide an update on our proposed redevelopment and land acquisition.
Last year we made a joint application with the City of Gosnells (the City) to the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (DPLH) for the purpose of amalgamating the land we currently lease, into our freehold land.
In late February 2024 we received correspondence from Land Management Metropolitan & Peel within DPLH advising the above (sale) can be considered due to:
- The land is currently leased by us from the City
- It has the City's support; and
- Will facilitate the redevelopment of our clubrooms and facilities.
This is great news but simply means the DPLH have commenced the standard due diligence processes.
Recently we received further updates from DPLH advising our lower car park lot seems to be straightforward forward however the driving range partial lot (lot 690) requires further proofing. We are now working closely with the City to provide supporting documentation and evidence to ensure compliance with the "Planning and Development Act 2005".
Due to the above "work in progress" we have yet to approach the government at any level with our offer document seeking project funding in the form of grants. We remain confident that the government at all levels (local/state/federal) are in support of our proposed redevelopment.
I want to reassure members that it remains the intention of the board to fully fund the project with grant funding. If any member is unsure what this means, I encourage them to contact me directly.
Membership renewal
Our Finance committee have provided the board with a set of proposals for membership renewal. As a result, I can confirm the following items;
- No changes to membership categories or playing rights
- No changes to the Affiliation Fee ($75)
- No changes to the Levy ($320)
- No changes to competition entry fee ($10)
- No changes to club room locker or non-powered buggy storage annual fee
- No changes to lifestyle membership starting with 100 points and points allocation through the week
- Member Credit will be reduced from $300 to $200
- Nomination fee will increase from $850 to $1,170
- Public golf will increase to $40/9 holes and $80/18 holes effective 1st July - with a discount in place for large social groups such as PGN
The only item to be resolved is the base Annual Subscription Fee. This body of work is with Treasurer Bill Keays and the Finance Committee.
We will hold another member forum on Thursday 30th May immediately after Thursday competition. The full board will be available to answer any question raised by members.
I want to thank our GM Fiza and her hard-working teams led by Bob, Carlee and Moka (and let's not forget our army of volunteers during the Oz Junior AM) for an extremely successful run of events in April. We have enjoyed an amazing level of support from members. Our staff appreciate your kind words and feedback.
I have had the opportunity over the past 2 months to visit many other (elite) private clubs both in Perth and over east. With confidence, I can tell you we do it as good as any other club going around.
We have a lot to be proud of and a lot to look forward to.
