CLUB NEWS

Friday 11 July 2025

Dear Members

We are pleased to share some important updates that will shape the future of our club.

For the first time in history, the Match and Greens Committees have been combined into a single Committee Group. The group now also includes the House Manager, bringing valuable knowledge of that department into the conversation. This change aims to enhance collaboration, streamline decision-making, and support our strategic initiatives. The trial committee, chaired by the General Manager, will meet monthly to focus on high-level strategic issues rather than day-to-day operations.

As previously mentioned, the Board has confirmed that operational issues and member concerns can still be directed to the Golf Operations Manager and House Manager.

Additionally, our Operational Team meets every Tuesday to assist in addressing member inquiries. This ensures questions are managed efficiently, and concerns can be escalated to the appropriate department if necessary.

During the recent Committee meeting, the topic of prize allocation, previously discussed at the members forum, was addressed. The Committee Group made an informed decision to continue using the countback system as the method for prize allocation. This approach ensures fairness, consistency, and efficiency in managing ties.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to strengthen our club.

PRIZE ALLOCATION Update

During the member forum, a question was raised regarding why down-the-line prizes vary even when players have identical scores. We want to take a moment to explain our approach, which prioritizes fairness, accuracy, and efficiency.

Why Do Prize Amounts Differ?

  • Countback Determines Rank: Similar to how we use countback to separate 1st and 2nd places, it also applies to down-the-line results. Players with the same score are ranked based on their countback, providing consistency and fairness in prize allocation.

  • Handling Ties Seamlessly: The unpredictability of ties makes it challenging to pre-determine shared prize allocations. Adjusting prizes on the spot can lead to delays. By using countback, we can efficiently manage prize distribution without the need for last-minute changes.

  • Efficient Presentations: This approach allows us to calculate prizes quickly and accurately during presentations, ensuring smooth transitions without unnecessary holdups.

Kind regards,

Shaun Malone | General Manager
