Revenue Diversification
Revenue diversification continues to be a hallmark of our focus this past year and we have recently introduced the hiring of golf scooters/bikes which has been well received by members and public. The scooters are now available for hire for members at a rate of $25 per 18 holes ($30 to the public) and it is a fun way for golfers to enjoy their golf even more.
We will be holding a few big social events at the Club in the next few weeks and months. We kindly thank you in advance for the members understanding on this. On Saturday 16 September, we will be providing a free BBQ sizzle for our members in the afternoon field (only) in the alfresco area as the members' lounge/whole clubhouse will be closed for a big wedding function during that period.
With the increase of families dining for lunch, dinner and functions at the Club, we have now installed a baby change table and nappy bin in our shared parents' room/disabled toilet in the clubhouse.
Winners
Congrats to our newly crowned 2023 men's club champion Andrew Woods and multiple returned winner Sasha Hofman for our 2023 women's club champion.
Congrats to our newly crowned 2023 senior men's club champion Craig Grant and 2023 senior women's club champion Jaedo Jun.
Congrats to our newly crowned 2023 men foursomes champions Don Mclean and Cian McGarvey. The Women's foursomes champions are Sasha Hofman and Jorja Hinson-Tolchard.
Congrats also to Kymberley Wilson and Lyn Bennett for finishing 1st and 2nd place respectively in the WA Women's Senior Rankings that concluded recently.
Policies
The latest policy approved by the Board is for the practice of ghosting.
"Ghosting is where the name of a member who has no intention of playing is inserted in a tee time spot via the online booking system. The practice of ghosting is not acceptable behaviour and is clearly intended to circumvent the playing rights of other members".

This policy has been added to our policies page on our members' website for future reference.
Vision of our Club's future
If you have missed the latest Board special update - I urge you to read the special edition on the latest update for our land acquisition. This issue has been an ongoing matter for GGC for the last 30 years and it is pleasing for this momentum towards achieving something that many have said "it can't be done". Congrats to Rob, Shane and the Board for achieving this fantastic milestone.
The acquisition of land is the first step. As we embark on this project, facility diversification is an integral component for the future viability of our business and Club. Unless you've been living under a shell, we are not the only sport that is going through this momentous change - other sports have started adapting to providing a multi-purpose facility and if we don't make this change, we are again, 10 steps behind.
To assist the understanding of members on this - I have attached the link for Golf Australia participation report (PDF) that indicates 1.2m of golfers play off-course only but only 0.7m play on-course only. This number is predicted to grow in favour of off-course only as generations grow and change.
