Gosnells secured the Division 2 flag in the GolfWA Men’s Pennant at Cottesloe Golf Club in an unexpected and dramatic way.
Gosnells and Bunbury were locked in a tight battle when play was suspended late in the day due to lightning and fading daylight. While most matches had reached 27 holes, one had not, and with conditions no longer suitable for play, officials were left with no choice but to call it.
With the match unable to be completed, scores reverted to the 18-hole results, where Gosnells held a narrow 4–3 lead, just enough to claim the win.
It was an unusual finish to a hard-fought competition, but a well-deserved reward for a determined Gosnells team, who now earn promotion back to Division 1 in 2026.
